Recently, the organizing committee of the Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo held a press conference for the 2023 MSRE. According to the introduction, the 2023 MSRE, with the theme of “Opening-up and Cooperation, Sharing Opportunities,” will continue to follow the “One Exhibition, One Forum” and “Comprehensive Exhibition + Professional Exhibition” modes. MSRE will kick off at Area A of China Export and Import Fair Complex, Guangzhou from 2-4 June, 2023, featuring three comprehensive exhibition areas: International Cooperation and Exchange Pavilion, International Commodities Pavilion, and Foreign Trade Bases Pavilion, as well as Digital Silk Road (Silk Road E-commerce) Pavilion. The exhibition covers an area of 50,000 square meters and will have over 1,000 participating companies and more than 70 supporting activities. The 2023 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo Theme Forum (short for “Theme Forum”) will be held on June 1st at the Guangzhou Yuexiu International Congress Center, featuring one main forum, five parallel sub-forums, and two supporting activities. The main highlights include:
1.Expanding the overseas “circle of friends” and promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Côte d’Ivoire, and other countries will set up national image exhibition areas for the first time at this expo. There will be 57 participating countries and regions, including 25 from Asia, 10 from the Americas, 9 from Africa, 11 from Europe, and 2 from Oceania. All 15 member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) will participate. The exhibition will feature RCEP’s exhibition areas on cultural, economic, and trade cooperation, China-Europe freight train achievements, China-Africa friendly cooperation, South Pacific friendly cooperation, Latin American cultural and economic trade, and hot consumption themes.
2.Gathering high-quality import and export commodities, achieving “buying and selling worldwide” in one-stop. The 2023 MSRE will showcase high-quality import brands from countries and regions along the Belt and Road, including food and beverages, trendy beauty and cosmetics, home goods and appliances, personal care products, and more. At the same time, selected export products from foreign trade bases in the province will be featured, and simultaneous online global live streaming will be organized to connect overseas buyers for online exhibition viewing and precise matching, helping participating companies in foreign trade bases effectively obtain overseas orders.
3.Innovatively organizing high-end forums to promote steady and far-reaching Belt and Road cooperation. The theme forum of the MSRE, titled “Exploring New Opportunities for International Cooperation and Jointly Building the High-Quality Silk Road” will focus on topics such as enhancing exchange and cooperation with BRI participating countries and RCEP member countries in such areas as scientific and technological innovation, green development, biopharmaceutical and healthcare. The parallel sub-forums include the “Belt and Road” Regional Cooperation Forum, “Belt and Road” Academician Forum, “Healthy Silk Road” International Cooperation Forum, “Maritime Silk Road” New Exhibition Economic Development Forum, and 30-person Forum for Open Cooperation. Supporting activities include the New Energy Vehicle Export and the Second “GDCar-Global” Event, and 2023 China-Arab States Enterprise Cooperation Meeting.
